Detoxing with juice drinks is one of the simplest and most beneficial ways of cleansing the body and feeding it the nutrients it is really craving. What seemed like just another fad has stood the test of time, and a detox drink cleanse has become one of the ultimate methods of losing weight and giving your digestive system a well-deserved break from having to break down and digest food. Here are the top 47 detox drinks for cleansing and weight loss.

Detox Drink Recipes

The liver is the most important detoxifying organ in the body, so it makes sense to drink fruits and vegetables to help it function at its best. Here is a list of detox drink recipes that can be incorporated into any detox program you’re following, or just enjoyed on their own for their immense health benefits.

Green Smoothie With Sea Buckthorn – You might not have heard of sea buckthorn, also known as ‘the lemon of the north’. They are small orange berries that pack a serious amount of vitamins that are great for your body and skin. The vitamin C content in sea buckthorn can be up to nine times higher than in classic citrus fruits like oranges and lemons.

Citrus Smoothies – This is going to be a big boom of citrusy flavor, but that’s not all it contains. A banana is in there to insure that you’re getting potassium into the body, as well as fiber to keep things moving. Your two basic detoxifying organs are the liver and the colon and this seems to appeal to both of them at the same time. Lemons, limes, oranges, and tangerines all mix together to give you all the vitamin C you could ask for, and to bombard your body with antioxidants as well.

Cranberry Detox Smoothie – This delicious, pretty smoothie is made with just a few healthy ingredients that can work as a detoxifying breakfast. The cranberries give you a boost of vitamins, fiber and minerals for a nourishing drink.

Kiwi Super Green Smoothie – Simple is the mantra of this smoothie – simple ingredients and simple to make. But what you get is an extremely refreshing, nourishing and energizing green smoothie. Kiwifruit is extremely beneficial to the digestive system, so this detox smoothie is a great option if you are constipated or irregular.

Matcha Mango Pineapple Smoothie – The matcha in the title means that you’re getting the real deal green tea that is used in Japanese tea ceremonies. Talk about a big boost of antioxidants, this smoothie can’t help but be green because of the tea. The pineapple is a nice touch, and the mango really lends a hand with additional vitamins and nutrients that are tough to find in other fruit choices. You’re left with a tropical-tasting blast of antioxidants that will be of great help to your body.

Pomegranate Pineapple Lemon Juice – Pomegranate is surging and popularity recently, and it’s not surprising to see why. It’s a great detox food, containing more antioxidants than green tea. Green tea has pretty much set the benchmark as far as antioxidants go, so this is pretty impressive. There’s also pineapple in this, so you’re going to get some sweetness and the extra vitamins it contains. The lemon will help rev up your metabolism, and balance out the sweet flavors.

Green Lemonade – Sometimes it’s easy to forget how the body responds to all of these good things for it. Here’s a breakdown: The ginger prepares your body to be more receptive to the other items in this ade. The kale comes through and gives your body a dose of phytonutrients. The lettuce also contains plenty of goodness for you, and the apple needs no introduction. The apple gives this the sweetness it needs to be great tasting and not just a good detox tool.

Love Your Greens Juice – If you loathe the idea of eating your greens, this recipe is designed to get you to like them again. Since you won’t have to chew them up, just drink them down, you can get all of your greens in just a few seconds. But the other part of this recipe is that they want you to enjoy your greens, so they’ve added some lemon to help the greens taste better. With cucumber, spinach, collards you’re getting plenty of phytonutrients, as well as hydration. Your body will thank you, and several organs will benefit from this concoction.

Super Hydration Juice – When it comes to detoxing the body one of the first steps that is often recommended is to hydrate the body. Most Americans are dehydrated to some extent due not only to the lack of water intake, but also the drinking of dehydrating beverages like coffee and soda. Here’s a way to introduce hydration back into the equation, boosting metabolism, flushing toxins, and providing nutrients from ingredients like strawberries and apples. Keep it organic for better detoxifying effects.

Sugar Free Indian Gooseberry Drink – Since American history dates back less than 300 years, it’s good to look to other cultures to find food items that have worked for several generations. Research shows that Indian gooseberry posses possess chemopreventive effects, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimutagenic and immunomodulatory properties. A huge boost to the body, and the lemon also gives a nice astringent effect as well.

Red And Green Festive Cocktail – Any time you mix kale with pomegranate you are doing a huge service to your body and your well-being. The antioxidants in the pomegranate will help battle free radicals, and the kale provides fiber, protein, and phytochemicals. Additional antioxidants are found in cranberries, with a pear added for sweetness. The use of mint gives this a fresh taste, and you can add raw honey for a bit of taste and additional anti-bacterial properties.

rainbow veggie drinkPhoto: So Let’s Hang Out

Rainbow Veggie Juice – OK, so it doesn’t really look like a rainbow once you’re finished making this, but the vegetable lineup before you juice them definitely reads like the colors of the rainbow. You’ve got red from tomatoes and peppers, orange from carrots, yellow from lemons, green from celery, parsley, romaine, and cilantro. All that’s missing is something blue, but not too many foods fit that bill. This is a fantastic way to group your daily allowance of veggies into one yummy juice.

Citrus & Green Tea Detox Smoothie – Most of the time smoothies don’t contain tea in them, but they’ve decided to use the granddaddy of all teas, green tea. This means you’re going to get plenty of detoxification going due to the antioxidants it contains, but you’ll also help speed up your metabolism because of the EGCG. The addition of citrus fruits only adds to the vitamins you’re getting, and makes it taste better. They’ve even snuck in a banana for potassium and fiber, and Greek yogurt for protein and a smooth texture.

Golden Detox Drink – Turmeric is not only a metabolism boosting spice, it also contains detoxifying power, helping the liver break down toxic chemicals. Ginger also adds cleansing qualities, and organic lemon juice with cayenne pepper is reminiscent of the detox lemonade diet. The overall effect is you’re getting a powerful blend of spices with just enough sweetness added to make it taste good and keep you drinking it. The boiling makes sure that all of the ingredients get equally dispersed.

Whole Food Spicy Green “Juice” – If you don’t like to eat spinach, but know you should because of all of its impressive health benefits, this is a pretty good compromise. You’re using a copious amount of it, and adding in other ingredients like cucumbers and ginger to make sure that you get a well-rounded experience. The spice comes from the ginger, so if you’re not a fan, you can take it out but then you’re missing out on its cleansing effect. Overall this is a refreshing beverage that you can use to detox, or just as a pick-me-up when you need it.

Grapefruit-Cado Sunrise Smoothie – Grapefruit juice all by itself makes for a good detoxifying drink, so when you start doctoring it up with other superfoods you know you’ve got a winner in the making. Here they’ve used avocado, so you’re getting the benefits it brings, like healthy fat and potassium. There’s also banana, strawberry, and orange juice, so you’ve got plenty of vitamins and minerals to help your body get clean. A bit of maple syrup is optional, if you find it needs a sweetener you may want to use raw honey or nothing at all to keep it totally healthy.

Detox Blueberry Fruit Smoothie – Blueberries do the heavy lifting on this detox smoothie, with all of their antioxidant power. Bananas lend their support, adding fiber and potassium to the mix, and there’s also cranberry juice which has a cleansing effect, and can even be used to treat a urinary tract infection. Overall this is a nice combination of flavors, as well as a mixture of three superfoods in their own right into one easy-to-drink smoothie. Good for a morning drink, or any time of the day if you’re trying to eat detoxifying foods.

orange surprise cleansing drinkPhoto: Girl Cooks World

Orange Surprise – Only four ingredients in this recipe means that they’re keeping it very wholesome, and only foods that are known to help cleanse the body have been invited to the exclusive party. Surprise! There’s no oranges here. They’re referring to the color of the drink caused by the carrots. You’re also getting the powerful benefits that are in celery, the goodness of apples, and some lime for a nice citrus twist that helps to pull this drink together.

Green Smoothie – Anytime you add avocado to the mix you know you’re going to get a smooth texture, healthy fat, and a soft flavor. They also include cucumber for its hydration properties so you’ll be able to flush out more toxins. They even show you how to keep this recipe vegan, which also keeps it dairy free, and also makes it Paleo friendly. You might not notice it once it’s finished, but it contains plenty of healthy nuts, so you get the benefits of nuts, without having to crunch them up. Flax seed gives you an omega-3 surprise so you’ve got a well-rounded detox smoothie here..

Drink Your Veggies Pizza – When we first heard of the idea of drinking a pizza, we were a little skeptical. But the more we thought about it, it makes sense. Wrapping your mind around the idea of helping the body with the flavors of pizza is step one. But once you see the ingredient listing you’ll see that it’s a superfood powerplay here. The lycopene from the tomatoes is the biggest factor, but your body gets carotenoids from the peppers. There’s also enough kale used in this to supply your body with plenty of toxin-fighting agents.

Ayurveda Detoxifying Tea – They refer to this as a tea, but it might be unlike other teas you’ve tried, since you don’t steep it from a tea bag. It’s made from herbs and seeds that you boil together and then drink. The use of traditional Ayurvedic herbs and spices, including cumin, coriander, and fennel mean that your body is going to be able to filter out harmful elements while being replenished with foods it can tolerate much better. They also include a recipe for a more traditional fruit and veggie smoothie so you’re really covered as far as your detox efforts go.

Mango Ginger Lemonade – Ginger is a great healing food, so anytime you feel that your body needs to calm itself down, you can turn to it for support. It helps the other foods around it get more properly absorbed by the body. That’s why you’ll see it several times in this list. It amplifies all of the health benefits from the other superfoods. Here’s they’ve mixed it with mango, not just for the amazing flavor, but for the alkalizing effect it has on the body. If you’ve been eating a lot of acidic foods it’s high time to introduce more alkaline selections.

Love Your Liver Juice – The liver is the crux to your detoxing program, so anything that makes it happy is going to provide you with the results you seek. Here they’ve singled out the liver in this juice, and are sending massive amounts of vitamins and minerals that are specifically geared towards helping it function optimally. Item one on the list is beets, and if you haven’t looked into this amazing superfood you should, it’s worth the read and it’s worth going out of your way to make sure you’re getting it.

Detox Beet and Carrot Smoothie – The beets alone would have been enough to call this a detox drink, but they went and added a lot of other antioxidant-rich foods, including green tea. You’re also benefiting from the anti-aging and anti-inflammatory properties of the carrot. The grapes also contain vitamin C so you’ll be helping your immune system, making this a great drink for the cold winter months when everyone is getting the flu around you. They also contain resveratrol, an antioxidant that can help prevent heart disease.

Detox Smoothie – Here’s a way to make a simple smoothie that has massive detox potential. Starting with a base of spinach is always a good step, and they’ve made it taste good by adding pineapple juice and lemon. There’s also ginger included, which will act as a sort of catalyst for the other ingredients to work their magic. Your body will be able to better utilize the nutrients that spinach contains, maximizing how good you feel, and how many toxins you’re able to purge.

Low Carb Green Smoothie – Remember the wheat grass craze that hit the health food scene years ago? It’s pretty much died down since then, but the fact remains that it’s super good for you and has tons of detox features to it. Here they’re mixing it with spinach, can’t go wrong there, and they’ve upped the taste factor by adding some stevia as well as almond butter and coconut water. They’ve kept the fruit to a minimum to avoid added carbohydrates.

Low Carb Green Smoothie

Spring Cleaning Detox – If you haven’t discovered green tea yet, here’s a good place to start. It provides antioxidants o help fight inflammation, and can help regulate your digestion so you’re able to be more regular, which is a huge boon to your detoxification plan. Cilantro, kale, cucumber, and pineapple lend a hand to make this a pretty potent cocktail as far as cleaning you out and giving you some nice nutrients to replace the harmful substances you’ll hopefully be getting rid of.

Cranberry Bliss Detox Smoothie – Cranberry gets into the title here, but there are plenty of other fruits and ingredients that help get you to your detox goal. Cranberries have long been known for their astringent properties, especially when it comes to the liver. Here they get blended up with pears, apples, and turmeric spice so your body is in for a treat. It’s fascinating the way your body responds to these wholesome foods in such a stark contrast to all of the pre-packaged and fast foods that cause so much harm.

Four Ingredient Apple Cider Vinegar Detox Drink– This is a detoxifying drink that you can use each day, rather than a one-off beverage. It’s quite simple, and involves just two mandatory ingredients. We recommend getting a brand of ACV that has “the mother” in it. One of the best brands out there is Bragg, which also happens to be organic. It’s provides a great cleansing to your entire digestive tract.

Kombucha Detox Drink – This cocktail incorporates the use of kombucha, which if you haven’t been exposed to this beverage might be a little off putting at first. But it’s supposed to provide your body with good bacteria that can aid in your digestion. When you improve your digestion you automatically help your body eliminate toxins, because you’re improving one of its routes of elimination.

Lemon Ginger Detox Drink – Why make things complicated? It doesn’t take a lot of bells and whistles to help the body detox. This one lists its ingredients right in the title, it’s simply combines lemon and ginger with water so your stomach can get ready for the food you’ll eat that day. This is a great drink to enjoy in the morning when you first wake up, about 30 minutes before you eat breakfast.

It’s a great idea to do a regular cleansing of the body instead of simply bombarding it with processed foods and letting toxins accumulate. You can decide what sort of program is right for you, as there are many different detox plans available. Some people detox over a long weekend, some for two weeks or longer. It’s up to you to determine what your body needs and what you’re willing to attempt. Good luck!

Each morning I have a smoothie that contains: Cranberry,Pomegranate,Banana,Ginger,Turmeric,V-8,Kayle,Flax,Seed Powder, and Organic Honey. My question is if I add some Cayenne will it be worth it?

    • Pat

Yes, but only a little if you do not like hot (spicy) drinks. Cayenne does tend to be strong.

    • Rick

I use Cayenne as a heart healthy add-on. Cayenne is suppose to enhance what ever it is that your mixing it with. Just as 40,000 btu to start with. Looks like you already got a good combo going……

    • Kim

My understanding is you also need a pinch of pepper to absorb the tumeric.

      • Sahara

It is the piperine in BLACK PEPPER that helps with the absorption of the nutrients in turmeric and other foods. Piperine can also be found as supplements in capsule form. One brand is Bioperene Nutrient Absorption Enhancer from Swanson.

    • Betty

How much cranberry, pomegranate, banana, ginger, turmeric, eat do you use in the smoothie Jerry? Can I please have the recipe?

    • Larry

Hey Jerry I love the ingredients in your smoothie and i would like to try it out. It would be of great help if you can give me a guide of how much of each ingredient should be added to the smoothie Thanks.

    • Teresa

I enjoy juicing spinach, carrots, apples, pears, almonds, with flax seed. Yummy!

  • Prince Ben Chi

Hello! Are all the above mentioned detox to be taken daily? & What are the negative effects on someone who is exercising vigorously four or five days a week? Please I need a guide.

    • Live Peachy

      Hi Prince,

You should consult with a doctor, dietitian or personal trainer who is educated in dietary needs. People on the internet are not going to know all of the things you need. Despite what some might say, there is a lot of nuance to personal health. For example, these are all questions that we don’t know about you. (Please don’t answer them, it’s just meant as an example):

What kind of vigorous exercise? Weight lifters and distance runners need different nutrients.
      What is your body size?
      What is metabolism like?
      What is your family history?
What medical/health issues do you have?

There are so many variables that only a person who knows you well will be able to guide you. As you said, you do need a guide, but you need an actual person you can work with. I highly suggest finding a qualified health professional to assist you in crafting a good plan for your specific needs.

  • Pat

I am not a doctor but I believe these drinks will not hurt you. Everyone’s bodies are different. The combination of fruit and veggies may give some people gas or visits to the bathroom. Others, it has no effects. As far as exercising, eat plenty of protein! Good luck!!!!

Wonderful blog post. I will be sure to pass this on. Detoxing is very important to maintain great health.

Until a few years ago I had a difficult time in detoxifying. The reason was that it was to difficult to change habits.

My favorite habit is drinking coffee. My first breakthrough came when I discovered an organic coffee that has the equivalent level of antioxidants as a pint of blueberries in every cup. 6 times more than other coffee.

Coffee is a great source of antioxidants and coffee is the number one source of antioxidants in the American diet. What is not known is that until recently coffee roasted using traditional methods only contained 1/6 of the antioxidants of the raw coffee bean. That is due to the high heat in the roasting process which destroys the antioxidants. There is a new Patented Roasting method that preserves the antioxidants right to the finished cup of coffee. In fact it does not alter the flavor or the taste. You can learn more about this breakthrough roasting method at http://superantioxidantcoffee.com There you will find scientific research about this break through roasting process. Super antioxidant coffee is made with organic coffee beans.

The next breakthrough in my detox quest was when I was in Costco and discovered Virgin Coconut oil. I now add that to my morning coffee.

The last thing was adding green coffee extract which I get from dietsfaq.com

The net result of my detoxing and increasing supplementation is that I have dropped 52 pounds. I feel great at 54 my Dr. tells me that I have the blood pressure of an 18 year old. So I am now health.

Thank you for your excellent post on detoxing. Posts like your save lives.

    • M schultz

What about using cold brewed coffee? It is suppose to 67% less acidic.

Also, Food combiners say you should never, never combined fruits with vegetables if you want good digestion. I would like to hear from some juicing advocates on food combining.

I have been researching what is called “raw food diet” which is not necessarily a diet…yet a life style change for the better!!!! Anything raw and unpasteurized is best for the body. It aids in weight loss and overall a healthy body mentally and physically!!! Just think thousands of years ago people didn’t eat or drink anything that was processed and over all they were far more heathy than the average joe now days. I know I know when most people think raw food (meat) they say eww gross! That’s not the case…you can cook your meat if you want…or just not eat meat at all. I still eat meat just in moderation. I do more fresh fruit and veggies and nuts. So if your doing a fruit and veggies detox I’d think/say drink as many as you want…but some of the lemon and ginger apple sider vintages ones they are most affective when you first wake up… Once a day on an empty stomach. I love this one it’s simply and taste great. 1. Pure cinnamon (no sugar added) 2. Raw honey 3. One 8oz cup of boiling water. You put one tablespoon of cinnamon in an 8 oz cup. Boil 1 cup of water and then pour over the cinnamon stir until the cinnamon dissolves. Let it cool to drinking temp and then add 2 tablespoons of honey mix until honey dissolves. Do not add the honey while cinnamon water is to hot for you to drink as this will change the consistency and break down the natural enzymes. And will be less beneficial. Drink half before bed and cover the other half and drink chilled first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. This helps aid in weight loss and boost the metabolism. Good luck!!!

  • kayla

Where can i get the recipes for these drinks?

  • Pamela

So excited to try some of these! I wrote them down so I can buy the stuff to try them. Many of the recipes call for things I already keep in my house, but I’m always looking for ways to eat and drink healthier. I was able to quit soda for a long time, then got lazy and started back up again. Time to get back on the bandwagon and keep it up! Thanks for all these!!

  • Wilma

I had removed soda from my diet years ago. But in the last year or so, I have begun to drink ginger ale again, because it helps me to burp. What say ye?

how to make juice of below ingredients
    •1 beetroot •4 medium carrots
•2 celery sticks • 5-10 spinach leaves • One lemon, Ginger root, Radish or Mint to taste

I mean.. How can we get a juice from spinach, clery sticks and mint

    • Rich Jr

This is why I make sure to use a blender and not a juicer. A juicer is going to miss the pulp of these great fruits and vegetables. Biologically, our internal organs are designed to ingest most of these foods in their whole state, for instance the skin of an apple, which has great nutrients as well.

Using a blender adds pulp, but your body will receive more benefits from the drink this way. You can still get juice from spinach, you have to add a whole handful and mash it down the juicer all at one time. Then, you can get more juice from the spinach.

Thank you for all the good info! Where we are in Mexico lemons are quite scarce. Limons, or what we would call Key limes, are the what use for practically everything lemon would normally be called for. Are the nutritional values equal? For the detox with olive oil and lemon juice for instance, would the lime juice do the same job? How about replacing the olive oil with coconut oil? It’s just that these are the things that are most available in their organic form here, so I’d like to work with that.

  • shantelle hunter

I have a question i want to start juicing nvr done this before so wanted to kno that while im doing this do u eat anything at all for either 7 or 30 days how ever long ur doing it do u drink these smoothies every couple hours and not eat any foods im confused on this need help for someone to explain how this works

  • Tina Martinez

Hello,..I tried to click on one of your recipes drinks but I was denied access. Why is that? supposedly, if it’s on the net, shouldn’t it be available to everyone? Please help!

  • Riverdale Centre

I would suggest purchasing fresh fruit and veg from a local organic food shop and making your own detox drink. Ones from shops can contain a higher level of sugar. You can still have too much sugar, even if they are natural sugars, if it’s not regulated.

  • sherri

I reckon that the most effective detox tea currently on the market is a small company from Australia called http://www.stayleantea.com.au . This tea has been the most effective fat burner and cleanser in my experience with 100% natural ingredients and no laxatives. Would definitely recommend.

I can only get a few of the recipes because, I too, am “not an invited guest”.

If you don’t want us to read your recipes, don’t include them in the listing.

      Disappointed 🙁

Hi, I am going to start a new diet or health change in my life due to having menopausal symptoms and gaining a lot of weight and definitely in need to detox my body. Always constipated and now a lot of swelling in my bone on bone knees and legs and feet now.I am extremely determined to make some changes for my health and wellness and needing to lose weight. If I can get any advice with making homemade smoothies and detoxing water recipes, this would be sooo much appreciated. Thanks so much

    • Jamie

Hi. I’m commenting on Gina’s post from a couple weeks ago. If you are looking for a simple detox water / drink you can drink first thing in morning or up to 3 times daily about 10 minutes before meals, try a glass of purified water with raw apple cider vinegar and either lemon juice or lemon essential oil and a pinch of cayenne, ginger and tumeric! Great to help facilitate detox which in turn helps with weight loss. This concoction is also great for relieving constipation! I also like to make a green pina smoothie made with greens of choice, cilantro, avocado and pineapple. You can view recipes for both drinks or watch a video demo on how to make them here: http://www.revitalizewithjamie.com/detoxification-and-cleansing/detox-drink-recipes-for-daily-cleansing/

Doing weight training, you should expect that you’re going to be sore-there are ways too minimize that and get a bwtter recovery, but it’s very common to be sore,
and usually that’s not a problem. Thiss willl help develop and tone your calvees and thighs as well
as improving your overall posture. There are ways and
exercises on exercises to improve vertical leap like whjat NBA players do.
And think of a good balance between protein aand carbs,
such as 40 grams for the first and about 50-100 for thhe second.

Perhaps it’s just me, but where are the “recipes”. I find sites who bring you in with “hook lines” and then offer nothing of true concrete substance annoying. Please tell me I have missed a button!

These detox drinks are great but i went for a more easier and quicker option to lose fats. I used Blue fat freeze system which helped me reduce 2 inches around my waist in 2 months. It’s a high end UBL backed neoprene wrap that you put over the fatty part of the body which freezes the fat under the skin with the help of dual action gel packs.
Blue Fat freezing is the latest fat reduction method the technology has to offer. Let’s see what other techniques of fat reduction the future holds for us.

I agree with you but lemon water also helps to burn Belly fat faster

Excellent blog! Do you have any tips and hints for aspiring writers?

I’m hoping to start my own site soon but I’m a little lost on everything.
Would you advise starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many choices out
there that I’m totally overwhelmed .. Any tips?

    Appreciate it!
